Cupping/ Hijama

Cupping, also known as Hijama therapy, is a traditional treatment that involves creating suction on the skin using glass, plastic, or silicone cups. This is typically done to stimulate blood flow, relieve pain, and promote healing.

Cupping therapy in the recent years has become popular with a number of elite celebrities and athletes to help boost their performance and to help with their recovery.

There are two main types of Cupping:

  • Dry cupping: The cups are placed on the skin, and a vacuum is created to draw the skin upwards, increasing circulation in the area.

  • Wet cupping: This involves the above process of  placing dry cups and then making small incisions on the skin before placing the cups to draw out small amounts of blood, believed to help remove toxins and promote healing.

Benefits:

  • Cupping is commonly used for pain relief, muscle tension, headaches, detoxification, and improving overall health and wellness. While many find it beneficial, it’s important to consult a healthcare professional before trying it.

Side Effects:

  • Potential side effects include mild discomfort, bruising, and skin infections.

Considerations:

  • Cupping is recognized as a complementary therapy and should be used in conjunction with conventional medical treatments as advised by your Doctor/Healthcare providers.
